About TexPayCalc
Free, accurate Texas paycheck calculators — built by someone who needed them.
Why We Built This
TexPayCalc was built out of a simple frustration: most Texas paycheck calculators either require you to hand over your email address before showing results, are cluttered with misleading ads, or produce inaccurate numbers because they haven't been updated to reflect current IRS tax brackets.
We built TexPayCalc to be the calculator we wished existed — fast, accurate, completely free, and with no email gate blocking your results. Enter your wage, click Calculate, and see your take-home pay immediately. No signup, no subscription, no upsell.
Who This Is For
TexPayCalc is designed for Texas workers, employers, and contractors who need quick, reliable paycheck estimates:
- Hourly workers evaluating a job offer or trying to understand why their paycheck is what it is
- Salaried employees planning their budget or comparing compensation packages
- 1099 contractors and freelancers estimating quarterly tax obligations and comparing rates to W-2 employment
- Small business owners and HR teams estimating payroll costs and employee take-home pay
- Agricultural workers and H-2A visa workers in Texas who want to understand their AEWR-based pay and withholding
- Military personnel stationed in Texas calculating base pay and allowances
How Our Calculations Work
All calculations on TexPayCalc are based on current IRS guidance and publicly available tax data. Specifically:
- Federal income tax brackets — based on IRS Revenue Procedure 2024-40 (2025 tax year) with projected 2026 inflation adjustments
- Standard deduction — $15,000 for single filers, $30,000 for married filing jointly (2025)
- Social Security wage base — $176,100 (2026 projected, per SSA COLA notice)
- Medicare tax — 1.45% with 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax on wages above $200,000 (single) or $250,000 (married)
- Texas state income tax — $0 (Texas has no state income tax)
- Self-employment tax — 15.3% on net self-employment income up to the Social Security wage base, 2.9% above
Our calculators use the annualization method for federal withholding — the same method used by most payroll software. We annualize your per-period wages, apply the tax brackets, calculate the annual tax, then divide by the number of pay periods to get the per-paycheck withholding amount.
Important: All results are estimates. Actual withholding depends on your W-4 elections, additional withholding requests, and other factors your employer uses to calculate payroll. For precise tax advice, consult a qualified tax professional or CPA.

Keeping the Site Free
TexPayCalc is free to use and will remain free. The site is supported by Google AdSense advertising — small, clearly labeled ads that appear on the page. We do not sell your data, require registration, or charge for any calculator feature. The ads allow us to cover hosting costs and keep the calculators updated as tax laws change each year.
